Switchbox: Why we slashed our funding goal and moved to Indiegogo

We  originally ran a Kickstarter for Switchbox, and the results were great:  we were supported by 93 backers and raised over $3,700.  However, we  did not reach our (admittedly high) funding goal of $15,000.  We are  undaunted.  We still believe in our vision of making the best FRC gear  box in the world.  We are redoubling our efforts, and moving here to  Indiegogo with an updated project.  We have reduced our funding goal to  be more in-line with the market, and are very eager to supply our  awesome gearboxes and rewards to our almost 100 backers. We've also added two new rewards: vinyl stickers, and a 3D printed keychain gear.

Kickstarter of the Week - Anderson High School Students Switchbox Robot Gears | Austin Tech | Austin Post

This is one of those projects that makes me happy crowdfunding exists. These guys want to solve a real-world problem for a small, niche group of hobbyists. Twenty years ago it would be nearly impossible for them to get any kind of funding. Now, people who want one of their gearboxes can support the Kickstarter. If there’s enough demand, they’ll get to go to market. Switchbox is exactly the kind of project Kickstarter was made to support.
