For kids nowadays, tech-savviness is an absolute must. After all, how else would they stay in touch with friends, watch their favorite TV show, or even do their homework? Unlike generations past, for today’s young ones, technology is a guaranteed part of life.
However, unlike what your son or daughter might tell you, technology for kids isn’t necessarily just fun and games. It can actually serve an educational purpose, too. Here’s why technology is important to your child’s education:
- It’s vital to academic success. Many schools (even at the elementary level) rely on technology for lessons, reading and homework. Students may download textbooks on e-readers and tablets, turn in homework assignments online, or work on group projects in chatrooms and forums. Knowing how to use tech is crucial if you want your child to succeed in school.
- Most jobs require it. Technology is an inevitable part of any career, regardless of what field your child goes into. Whether they become a computer programmer or web developer, or opt for something more creative, like graphic design or the arts, you can bet technology will be a part of their daily duties no matter what.
- It’s one of the most in-demand fields in our economy. Technology and STEM jobs are expected to increase by 14 percent in the next 5 years. Specifically, positions like software developers and computer analysts are projected to jump 22 to 32 percent! If your child has been exposed to new technologies and has a strong, diverse educational background, they are more likely to be a top candidate for one of these high-paying positions.
Still think technology for kidsis just a fad? Think again. Sign your child up for one of our entrepreneurship and technology programs, or work with us to bring curriculum to your school, and see just how important technology education can be.
