College and Career Readiness Isn’t All Tests and Studying

Ensuring your child is ready for college and a successful career doesn’t just require SAT prep courses, flashcard practice, or extracurricular academic classes. In fact, a good portion of college and career readiness doesn’t come from textbooks or the classroom. Instead, it comes from experience – real-life, hands-on experience, where they can learn the principles and skills they need to succeed.

At VentureLab, we understand this fact, and we aim to give kids just those opportunities. Our camps aren’t like something you’d see in a traditional classroom. In our programs, students get to be creative – to invent, engineer and brainstorm to their heart’s content. We show them how to use their imagination and ingenuity to create innovate products, gadgets and games that change the world, all within a fun learning environment.

What Students Learn in our Courses

Each of our courses has a focus, such as gaming, music, filmmaking, or other similar subjects. At each one, we put college and career readiness at the forefront. We teach students about entrepreneurship and innovation, and we give them an education in the basic principles of business – things like pitching, marketing, research, development and more.

They also get experience in putting those principles to use. They deliver real-life pitches, conduct surveys and polls, and then use that feedback to better their products and gadgets.

We also have mentors in each of our classes, people who are absolute experts in their fields and professions. These people can provide great guidance to our students, and they also offer a strong networking opportunity for those who wish to continue in the field later on. Sometimes these mentors can even offer outside career guidance, internships and job connections.
