Entrepreneurship education this summer and beyond at VentureLab!

As the summer comes to an end, we’ve been reflecting on what a great 10 weeks we’ve had. From revamping our innovation space, to holding new and old camps, and even moving to a whole new city, VentureLab has had a top notch summer - and so have our campers! Thinking about how we’ve grown, played, and learned has us thinking more about why VentureLab was started.

Our mission is to encourage and build the next generation of inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Without our students, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. They are the most important part of our camps, and to give them the nudge they need, we decided to share a little bit of our inspiration with them by revamping our whole innovation space. Not only do our innovators get to spend the whole day in our hands-on entrepreneurship education camps, every time they look at the walls and see our favorite quotes, they get a taste of why we do what we do.

Over the past 10 weeks we’ve held new camps such as Maker, exposing students to technologies like 3D-printing, robotics, and more as they let their inner inventor shine. We’ve also run some favorites like Girl Startup, where young women learn how to work in teams to develop new and exciting products. We have seen students brainstorm, conduct market research, go through the entrepreneurial process and grow into passionate young entrepreneurs.

This summer we even hit the road and took our innovative, project-based curriculum 80 miles north to Austin, TX! Running camps in Austin and in San Antonio was one of the most rewarding experiences our staff had. Not only did our students learn this summer, we did, too.  We had a blast with High School Startup and Maker in Austin and worked with a wide range of fun and smart students.

Now that camps are winding down, we’ll keep bringing entrepreneurship education to students through creative, hands-on, and fun classes and curriculum. Exposing youth to the exciting world of entrepreneurship has always been central to what our founder Cristal Glangchai strives to accomplish, and we think the growing entrepreneurial community in San Antonio is the perfect place to test, improve, and grow. Cristal recently chatted about entrepreneurship in San Antonio with the Jeep Sidestreets team - check it out here!

We think entrepreneurship education is the future for students of all ages. Give your students the 21st century learning skills they need to succeed later on in life. Enroll them in our last week of camp this summer, or consider using our state-of-the-art curriculum in your own classroom.
