Learn How to Make Your Own Video Game at Any Age

Making your own video game might seem like a pretty daunting task. You’d have to buy all the right technology and equipment, learn how to code, and figure out how to do the graphics and imagery. Without a background in design and code, it might feel difficult to get your student started.

Fortunately, there are other options. With VentureLab’s unique Gamer program, you can get an introduction and make your own video game in just a few hours.

A Class Designed for Gamers

If your student has always wanted to make their own video game, our Gamer program is the class for them. With courses for ages 5-7, 8-10 and 11-13, it doesn’t matter what age or grade they're in. We make it simple, fun and easy to create a game that’s all their own.

Here’s how the course works:

  • First, students explore a few different programs, such as Pixel Press and Hopscotch, designed just for introductory video game creation.
  • Second, they test and provide feedback on an existing game, using principles of market research and interviews to guide them.
  • Then, they make their own video game, by editing, tweaking and improving the existing game. Students add additional levels, special features and more.
  • Next, students work together with your classmates to create your own game company. They'll discuss game pricing, marketing, and strategy, and learn what success in the gaming industry will require later on down the line.

Once the course is over, you can take your code with you, so your student can continue developing and perfecting their game.
