Last week, we revealed 10 powerful kids’ educational websites that can help your child learn, get creative and expand their minds from an early age. This time around, we want to cover resources that specifically relate to the STEM fields – science, technology, engineering and math.
Do you want your child to have a great foundation in STEM? Then consider utilizing these online tools:
- Science Bob – Science Bob is specifically designed to encourage scientific learning. It offers up hands-on experiments, ideas for science fair projects, videos, research, and even a store of science-related items.
- ReadWriteThink – This site helps inspire creative thinking and allows kids to write, design and create their own newspapers, flyers, brochures and other materials. It’s great for children interested in publishing, architecture, graphic design or other tech-heavy fields.
- NASA Kids Club – Here kids can learn about science, astronomy and what it takes to become an astronaut through interactive games and activities. Buzz Lightyear even makes his way into a few lessons!
- How Stuff Works – A veritable smorgasbord of information is available at How Stuff Works. Kids can learn the ins and outs of virtually anything they’re interested in – machines, technology, weather patterns, etc. It’s the perfect resource for those interested in engineering or other hands-on careers.
- iCivics – With iCivics, kids can gain insight into our country’s legal system, government and constitution. The site offers games, interactive “quests,” and more.
- CoolMath – The self-proclaimed “amusement park of math” offers games around addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and more. While the site is geared toward kids 13 and over, there’s also a sister site called CoolMath4Kids, aimed at ages 3 to 12.
- Edudemic – With how-tos, tools and online learning activities, Edudemic offers everything kids need to learn about technology. There’s even a section on social media.
- CodeAcademy – In our tech-focused world, CodeAcademy is a great resource for molding young minds. The site helps kids and teens learn the basics of programming, web development and coding, so they can create websites and applications of their own.
- Make Me Genius – Make Me Genius offers age-specific learning activities and quizzes, mostly in the areas of science and nature.
- Exploratorium – Exploratorium lets kids learn about science by virtually “exploring.” They can play with machines and gadgets, dive under water to learn about sea life or see stars and constellations up close and personal.
While these kids’ educational sites are certainly a great way to instill foundational STEM skills in your child, nothing is as effective as a real-life, interactive session. Contact us to learn more about VentureLab’s programs or enroll your child today.
